Butternut squash have a long shape and beige colour. The flesh has a light orange colour with a very creamy, moist texture and a nutty flavour. The most versatile squash and Tamra Davison's Favourite!
To prepare a butternut squash, cut in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. There are so many ways to cook it from there! We love it sauteed and added to salads, pureed in soup or baked with apples and cinnamon. A perfect base ingredient for so many recipes! It holds it's shape very well when baked, but is also very smooth once it's been blended.
Squash can be successfully stored for up to 6 months. Store in a cool location and wipe the outside with a bleach water mixture to help it last.
