October has arrived but so far it doesn’t feel much different than September, or for that matter, August. In my over 40 years of living her e in Vernon, I do not remember a fall season as consistently warm and sunny as we have enjoyed this year. Apple harvest is well underway, the vegetables are done producing and the fields are being prepared for a winter of rest. Despite this, enjoying the fall feels of pumpkin spice lattes and warm cozy sweaters still seem premature.
This amazing warm weather has been kind to the flowers; they still look glorious! Add to them the cornucopia of squash, pumpkins and gourds heaped up everywhere and you will see fall splendour at its finest. At the farm there are harvest displays around every corner, so, warm weather or not, you know without a doubt it really is October. I have enjoyed decorating the farm this fall and have even added some photo ops in the pumpkin patch. If you missed the family photo day last weekend you will still find amazing spots to take a picture and capture your family memories here at the farm.

This coming weekend is Thanksgiving: a very special time here at the farm. It is not a restful weekend for us as farmers, bakers and soup makers. We still have much of the apple harvest to pick, pack and juice, pumpkins galore to sell and pies, pies, pies to bake, but we will remember to be thankful for God’s goodness this year. It has been a challenging year in many ways but God is good and has faithfully provided what we needed when we needed it. We are ever grateful for our customers' support, encouragement and kind words throughout the season. Our family and great team of staff will continue to work hard over our last few weeks to do what we love to do: produce good food and provide a great place to bring your family to create lasting memories.
