Before I begin telling you about the ins-and-outs of marketing at Davison Orchards I want to let you in on a secret: all of you are part of our marketing team! You have signed up for our newsletter because you are interested in what is happening at the farm and care to be in the know. Thank you for reading our newsletter and sharing your experiences with those around you.
Marketing Davison Orchards has been my (Tamra’s) passion since joining the family farm full-time in 1985. I started out with a very simple brochure, distributing it personally to every hotel, motel, visitor center and attraction in our area, telling them about our farm and hoping that in turn they would pass the brochure on to their guests. We are still doing this to this day.

More recently, Facebook and Instagram have grown into useful platforms to connect with people all across Canada and beyond. Since there is always so much happening at the farm it is easy to post regularly, informing people about what is going on with our crops, products, animals and family fun. This, along with our website, is where you can find the most recent news and updates.
Word of mouth has been, and always will be, the most effective way of sharing our story. This sharing takes place during face-to-face encounters, over phone calls and on social media; regardless of the platform it is a powerful tool that has the amazing ability to reach many people. As the marketing director here at the farm, a personal recommendation is the best gift you can give me. It warms my heart to overhear our loyal customers giving personal tours to their friends and relatives, telling who we are and what we do. Thank you for your kind and encouraging support!

I can’t talk about marketing without highlighting Callum. He is the man behind all the beautiful photos we post, the posters we create, the power points and the slide shows. But mainly, he is the genius behind all of our videos. Laura, Rachel and I take turns creating recipe videos for these newsletters, but it is Callum who makes this happen. He films the scenes and then spends hours editing out all the bloopers (of which there are many), somehow making us look good in the process! Visit our Youtube Channel or website https://www.davisonorchards.ca/ for access to these videos that include everything from educational talks on pruning, to decorating tips, to recipes. Callum is an invaluable member of our team, always willing to jump in wherever help is needed.

It has been 37 years since we opened our farm up to the public. What a privilege it is to still be here, sharing our orchard with others and inviting them to come and experience the food, the farm and the fun we have to offer. Over the years we’ve evolved and grown, but our family is still as passionate about growing food for our community as we ever were. What began with 34 acres of farmland has grown to over 120 acres, but that is a story for another day! Thanks for your continued support and your BIG part in helping us get the word out about our family farm business – Davison Orchards Country Village.
See you at the farm,
Tamra, For the Family
