Many of you have been asking about the new property we were able to purchase on Bella Vista Road. We call it “Rockview,” which was the name the Kawaguchi Family gave the property many decades ago. We are excited to announce that in 2025 we will begin planting our first crops. Our farmers have been so busy with clean-up, building a deer fence, re-doing the irrigation infrastructure, preparing the soil and planning the layout for future plantings.
Next year we plan to plant about 10 acres of ground crops including sweet corn, tomatoes and melons. In 2026 we anticipate planting 20,000 apples and pear trees, which will include two NEW apple varieties that we are very excited about! Tom, Kevin and Lance visited some tree nurseries earlier this summer to order trees in preparation for planting in two years time. Farming this new property will allow us to rotate our crops more efficiently and to allow other portions to rest. We don’t anticipate increasing our overall harvest by much. Rather we are seeking to farm in the most sustainable ways possible so we can continue to farm for many generations to come.
