Acorn Squash
Description
As the name suggests, Acorn Squash are shaped much like the nut! We grow both the dark green coloured and the multi-coloured Carnival variety!
The inside flesh of both types is a deep yellow colour with an almost sweet, nutty flavour.
Cooking Ideas
To prepare Acorn Squash, cut it in half and remove the seeds. This squash is fantastic roasted with brown sugar and butter for a caramelized effect. The flesh is quite firm and holds its shape well, so it can be cooked in halves or in slices. Acorn Squash are also perfect for stuffing!
Storage
Squash can be successfully stored for up to 6 months. Store in a cool location and wipe the outside with a bleach water mixture to help it last.
