View in browser Bringing in the Harvest The smell of apple-cider donuts wafting through the air; that first sip of the first-of-many pumpkin steamers; feet crunching on fallen leaves; picking a ruby red apple right off the tree; savouring a warming bowl of soup on the patio: this is the essence of All Things Autumn at Davison Orchards.    September is such a fun month at the farm! All of the work of the last eleven months comes to fruition as we bring in the harvest. For my family, mingling with the fun is a bit of a “buckle down” feel. Lance is working from dawn to dusk to get the harvest off the trees. With the heatwave of the last couple weeks, the fruit is ripening fast and furious. Thankfully, we have a highly experienced crew of hard-working people who are just as excited as we are to get the fruit off the trees and into your hands.     At the Country Village Market you will find many fun things going on to celebrate the harvest. There are Caramel Apples to munch on, pumpkin people and scarecrows to take photos with, apple themed tic-tac-toe in the play area and U-Pick apple rides every Wednesday to Sunday.    Each weekend in September is Apple-Fest at the farm. This year we have brought back a very old favourite: Caramel Apple Bowls! Served only on Saturdays and Sundays, these delicious treats are a sliced apple, drizzled with warm Davison Caramel and filled with real whipped cream. Also available on Saturdays, from 10-12, is the “Make your own Mini Apple Pie” event with Tamra and Theresa. Kids of all ages will love rolling out pie dough, filling their shells with apples and learning to crimp the edges with a fork. My kids all made a mini pie last weekend, and I must say that their favourite part was pulling it out of the oven at home and serving a piece, piled with ice cream, to their dad. The look of pride on their faces for what they had accomplished was priceless.     As harvest rolls along I am filled with gratitude for the blessings of a crop to pick, for each one of you who supports us along the way, and for peace and joy from my Heavenly Father who provides so abundantly. So as I take in All Things Autumn this year, I am going to make an effort to savour each moment and enjoy the ride.
