After much deliberation with our family and staff we have decided to proceed with a limited opening for Friday, May 1. We will have our market open, but the rest of the farm will remain closed until the current threat of COVID-19 has passed. The retail market will be open weekly, Tuesday to Saturday from 10-5pm, but the Farmhouse Café, kids play areas, farm animals, washrooms, and farm tours will remain closed. We are honored at the positive response and encouragement we have received from many of you who have enjoyed the pick-up service and the “Made Right Here” products available on our website. Starting May 1, we will be extending the hours for pick–up orders at the Silo to match the hours of the market.
It is with great sadness that we make this decision, because we enjoy sharing our farm with you; and we know the children look forward to having a fun place to run and play at ‘the farm’. Rachel has been busy tending to and feeding the animals in anticipation of your return; we know the animals miss you all! Rest assured, as soon as the threat of COVID-19 has subsided, we will open our farm & play areas back up for you to enjoy. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
In the meantime, we are taking all necessary steps to keep our market clean and welcoming for you. We ask that you respect others and follow the guidelines of social distancing. We will have a host available at the door to answer any of your questions and assist you in any way we can.
We understand that many of you would prefer to place your order ahead online, and then have it delivered to your car; we are happy to provide this service to you. Visit https://www.davisonorchards.ca/online-order-form to place your orders. We will be updating our product line weekly, so follow us on Facebook or check our website for these latest updates.
We want you to understand that we are proud, honoured, and committed to growing and making fresh local food for our community. We have been busy behind the scenes in the bakery and cannery making preserves, apple juice, pies, and comfort meals for you to enjoy at home. The tomatoes, melons, onions and more are all growing in our greenhouses, waiting to be transplanted to our fields in mid-May. The field crew is busy preparing the fields for new apple trees and corn planting! Tamra and Lorraine have been busy setting up the gift shop with a showcase of spring delights. We are also introducing three new preserves: Ginger Peach Jam, Raspberry Jalapeno Chipotle Sauce, and Plum Chutney. We are also debuting a home-style Apple Sauce that is naturally sugar-free and made with Golden Delicious apples, grown right here on our farm!
These are challenging days for everyone, and we understand the many hardships our community and the world at large is facing. Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and patience. Better days are coming and we will be here for you.
