My kids are picking cherry tomatoes to sell in the market again this year and they have been kept busy by it. This morning as they were picking, they were feeling a bit overwhelmed at the size of the job; it seemed as though the tomatoes were growing on the vine as fast as they could pick them! This caused a mixture of excitement at the ease of picking mixed with frustration and despair brought on by the large task.
In the end we decided to break the job down by only picking a reasonable amount for the day and also by making the work more fun by singing while we picked. After a few robust rounds of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” followed by a feeble attempt at “Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It’s Off to Work We Go” the job was soon finished.
We hope you too enjoy tackling your summer tasks over the next month of summer harvest.
And stayed tuned because - believe it or not, it won’t be too much longer before we begin our u-pick apple tours!
