The grass is green, fruit buds on the trees are swelling and the soil is warming up; spring has arrived on the Bella Vista and the countdown to opening is on. Here at the farm we are all scurrying around working down our “To Do” lists, prioritizing our tasks in anticipation of opening our doors for a new season on THURSDAY, APRIL 28th. We are closed on Sunday’s and Monday’s during the spring, so don’t make the mistake of showing up on the first of May as it happens to be a Sunday this year.

The farm is a flurry of activity right now: Tamra and her team are busy setting up the market and gift shop. With stunning spring colours, the array of gifts, gardening treasures, kitchen essentials and home décor items will take your breath away! The shelves are fully stocked with a huge assortment of gourmet preserves, most of them made right here in our cannery.

Justin, our Director of Retail Operations, is busy hiring and training staff, along with ordering and organizing all of our needed supplies.
Raelene and her food services team are working at filling the freezers with our Made Right Here meals and baked goods. The whole farm smells amazing, wafting with with the aroma of Chicken Pot Pies, Maple Caramel and more. With some new recipes in the works, there is much to anticipate.
As the days lengthen the earth is waking up, reviving hope like only spring can. Warm and humid, our greenhouses are filled with growing baby peppers, onions and tomato plants that will be transplanted into the fields next month. The task of pruning the trees has been completed and manure has been spread to enrich the soil.

We are in the process of laying fresh pavement, along with building some retaining walls to improve the front kids play area and patio seating. The reality is, there is never a dull moment on the farm! Growing food, preparing food, setting up our Country Village and grooming the grounds takes a whole team of hard working people. But we are up to the challenge and look forward to opening our doors to welcome you back for the 2022 season, our 89th year of farming this land.
