I’m not sure how it happened, but somehow it is already the last day of September. This month has flown by for me but there is no doubt about it: autumn is here! The leaves are changing, the mornings are crisp and cool, and ‘pumpkin spice’ is on every corner. While I love the summer heat, I also enjoy the routines and habits that the fall season brings. After being paranoid about heating up the house all summer, I find it refreshing to leave the blinds open and let the sunbeam in the house all day. I’m also enjoying indulging in my favourite habit,  “procrasta-baking” (by definition – the art of putting off everything I should be doing by using all my time baking delicious things), instead of the house cleaning I should be doing.
It is funny how the changing seasons, colors and smells affects us so much. My dinner menu has changed from BBQ’s and salads to hot casseroles and stews, my décor has gone from fresh cut flowers to pumpkins, and the house is always filled with the aroma of fresh baking. It just feels right! As we roll into October, my mind goes to other traditions that are coming soon; picking pumpkins, drinking hot spiced apple cider, and celebrating Thanksgiving with my family are all things I am looking forward to. I am finding more comfort than ever in these traditions and  I’m very grateful they can still happen.
We have enjoyed celebrating the apple harvest with you this September. As we turn the calendar to October, our u-pick tractor tours will be taking you to the pumpkin patch to choose your favourite pumpkin! To help keep people spread out, we will be extending u-pick rides to Wednesday through Sunday, all month long.

This upcoming weekend we are thrilled to be able to say that we are doing our annual Free Family Photos! Because our springs photo sessions couldn’t take place, to be able to do this now makes us so happy. We love seeing families enjoying the beauty of fall together, and these family pictures are the perfect way to remember the day. These photos will be offered  for  TWO DAYS this year – Saturday & Sunday, Oct 3 & 4 from 11:30am – 3:00pm

October 10th to 12th is Thanksgiving weekend. One change this year is that we will not be taking Thanksgiving pie orders. This was a hard decision for us to make, but we felt it was the necessary route for this year. Please be rest assured however; we will still have pies in abundance! Pies are our number one priority on Thanksgiving weekend, and the bakery literally works around the clock to make sure we have a good supply. So no need to call ahead, just show up and choose your pie. Another option is to pick up a frozen, unbaked pie ahead of time and bake it yourself, filling your house with a delicious aroma. If it’s a pumpkin pie you are after and you’d like to pick it up ahead of time, just take it home and freeze it, then pull it out about 4 hours before you plan on serving it. No matter what route you choose, we are working hard to ensure that your Thanksgiving festivities will be perfect.

We’ve always enjoyed being part of your traditions, but this year it feels even more special.  Thank you again for supporting our family farm, and we look forward to celebrating this fall season with you in the coming weeks.

Take care and see you soon
